Pumpkin Spice Smoothie with Turmeric, Black Pepper and Honey

You could settle for an average pumpkin spice smoothie, or you could choose our health-enhancing version featuring turmeric. Basically, we mixed a pumpkin spice smoothie with a golden milk smoothie to create the ultimate, seasonal, exceptionally delicious and exceptionally good for you beverage.

We all know about the nearly magical health benefits of turmeric, but did you know that without a natural substance found in black pepper, your body is only able to absorb a slight percentage of turmeric’s powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds? That’s why our creamy, golden-hued pumpkin spice smoothie includes turmeric and black pepper. Oh, and we sweetened this creation with honey, which has scientifically-proven benefits, including enhanced short-term memory.

Health Benefits
  1. Plantain: this close cousin of the banana offers up a substantial share of potassium, a mineral your body needs to regulate your heartbeat and keep your muscles, digestion, and skeletal structure healthy.

  2. Almonds and almond milk: are a rich source of essential vitamins and minerals, including vitamin E, calcium, magnesium, riboflavin, niacin, and potassium.

  3. Pumpkin spice blend: you’re almost sure to find cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and allspice in whichever pumpkin spice blend you use, meaning you’ll be providing yourself with health benefits like better blood sugar control and improved digestive health.

  4. Honey: scientific analysis indicates that honey can improve your memory by helping to prevent cellular damage within the brain. Honey also helps your body absorb calcium, which we need to maintain optimal brain function.

  5. Turmeric: this golden spice contains powerful compounds called curcuminoids, which have extremely impressive anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Researchers are very excited about its potential to treat diseases spurred by chronic, low-level inflammation, such as heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s, and many others.

  6. Black pepper: this familiar seasoning has health benefits of its own (such as ensuring efficient food digestion), but the most relevant to this pumpkin spice smoothie recipe is that it helps your body effectively utilize the compounds found in turmeric. Black pepper is loaded with piperine, which increases your body’s ability to absorb turmeric by 2,000%.
