The Ultimate Green Smoothie

Matcha, a powder made from green tea leaves, has a rich history dating back to China’s Song Dynasty. By adding matcha tea powder to this green smoothie recipe—which also features five other heart-healthy foods—we created the Ultimate Green Smoothie for those of you seeking to support and protect your hearts.

Some healthy smoothies can look or taste unappealing, but this green drink has a captivating hue and a sweet, mild flavor. The addition of avocado and coconut milk make it irresistibly creamy, plus we snuck in protein-loaded spinach to help keep you full. We find that, thanks to matcha’s caffeine content, this green smoothie makes a particularly good afternoon pick-me-up!

  • 1 frozen banana

  • 1 tablespoon matcha powder

  • 1/2 avocado

  • 1 cup spinach

  • 1/2 cup coconut milk

  • 1 cup frozen pineapple

  1. Scoop out 1/2 avocado into your blender or food processor.

  2. Toss in 1 cup spinach.

  3. Add 1 cup frozen pineapple and 1 frozen banana.

  4. Pour in 1/2 cup coconut milk.

  5. Finish with 1 full tablespoon of matcha powder.

  6. Blend until beautifully smooth and creamy.
